UPDATE: BBQ Results for October 25th & 26th

 

Heading up I-45 just North of Conroe is the town of Willis, Texas. If you have driven from Houston to Dallas on I-45 you go right past the FM1097 road to Willis. If you blink you'll miss it. What a neat little town and plenty of down home country folks that make you feel right at home! We all knew that this weekend was going to be a wet one so we were prepared. Darrell & Don set up the tent in the Rain in about 20 minutes and then pulled the pit & truck in and unloaded all the supplies. Easy as pie. Ron showed up to drop off his camper and went back to Houston to finish the day. Vince didn't make this one but promised to be there on the next cook. We missed the Captain.

Friday afternoon, Ron came back and Mom & Albert showed up with some strange dish that was green & mean.  I have no idea what it was but it reminded me of when I was a kid and had to eat spinach. Sorry Mon but Yuk! The dessert (homemade cookies) made up for that so called healthy food. I mean this is BBQ and Beer Time! Save the weight watcher stuff for sister Jan.  Mike and Barbara set up their Karaoke show next to our space and did a jam up job. We decided that they would be a fun addition to our cook at the Hold'em & Hit'em event  in January. We look forward to having them join us.

With room for 40 cookers 32 showed up. Some real dedicated BBQ ers! No complaints, just a lot of fun! We did the beans, the chicken, the ribs, and the brisket and let me tell you it all looked and tasted wonderful. Five places on the beans with no luck, we made the table with the chicken, for the first time our ribs actually placed, and for the life of me I can't understand why we didn't make the table with our brisket. Just goes to show you there must be some really good brisket cookers in Willis, Texas!
