Christmas On The Square

December 6-7 Angleton, Texas

UPDATE: BBQ Results for Angleton Christmas on the Square

It's been a wonderful & rewarding experience this year with The Moonlight Cooker's. This completes our 11th competition this year. A big hearty thanks to all of you that supported our endeavors and we would like to invite you back again next year. Check out our schedule of events

Angleton Texas is a small town just South of Houston. The folks have hearts as big as The State of Texas. They make you feel right at home. For the History of Angleton you might visit: History of Angleton.

We feared that we would have cold and rain however thanks to The Man Upstairs we were blessed with Sunshine & very nice outside air conditioning.

Don, Darrell, & Ron set up the site right next to BCB Cookers; Russell & Cecilia Coleman from Clute, Texas, (about 10 minutes South of Angleton) and on the other side was Joe Stahl with the Badland Cookers. Vince showed up with all the chili stuff and went right to work. We got a chance to visit some of our cooking buddies Friday night and prepared for the long long long Saturday ahead. Brisket turn in on Saturday was at 6:00PM, T.C. Lipe assured us that next year it would be earlier.  Great! We are usually the ones doing all the spying, but Russell Coleman came equipped with real spy glasses. I don't know why, after all he won 6th place in Brisket! On our other side, Joe Stahl won 10th place brisket! When it was all said and done, we had a great time, wish you were there, and hope to see you next time.

We were blessed with Visits from Linn (my sweetie) Don, Diane, Gavin, & Gina Marie Grieb along with Kim, Alaina, & Brianna Alford. It was great to see Steve Turek and Janie Smith. The kids had a wonderful time visiting  Santa, playing on the rides, and just simply having fun.

The Texas Gulf Coast BBQ Cookers Association Pit of the IBCA was well represented with Bucket Cookers, Moonlight Cookers, BCB Cookers, Pop's Pit Crew, Blazen BBQ, TCT, TCTII, Wild Bunch of Magnolia, 3f's Cooking Team, We Be Smokin 1, We Be Smokin Too, and Manvel In-Laws & Out-Laws.

The Angleton Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with Trails End Wild Game Gourmet put on a real show for the town, neighbors, visitors, kids and family. We saw Santa Claus sky diving from an airplane and landing right on target to greet all the boys & girls. Hay rides were plenty and all the activities for the kids were free. What a great celebration. Our host T.C. Lipe did a jam up job and kept everything running smoothly.

I know the IBCA is proud, as one of our members won the CASI Chili Cookoff.  WhoWha! We also had other BBQ teams that placed in the chili including yours truly for making the final table. Way to go Vince! Hat's off to Jill & Bobby Blankenship for a professional judging job and also thanks to Pat Schultz and Ronald Latil for lending a hand.

Linn & I extend to you all the joys and happiness throughout the holidays and wish you a very prosperous, healthy, and happy New Year! Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with you.

For those of you who did not make the cook, perhaps you can come out next time. Check out our website for dates & times of coming events.
