4th of July BBQ Cook-Off

UPDATE: BBQ Results for July 4th & 5th

Trinity Texas, lots of history here, See http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/TT/hct9.html.

With rain in the forecast, we knew for sure we were going to have a wet one, however it rained all around us with only one little spurt which lasted about an hour. So you folks who stayed in, missed a great little cook-off with lots of food and free beer.

Tim Hollowman put on a fine show and gave away lots of drink and ale. He is the president of Hollowman Distributing Company which is the local distributor for Miller Brewing Company.

Ron and Vince had other commitments so Don, Linn, & Darrell held down the fort. We made the final table in all events with the exception of Brisket. Don't know what happened, it was so tender we could hardly slice it, and it sure tasted great!

Robin and the girls came out, what a wonderful visit. We met some new folks, told stories, and had a good ole time. There was a good mix of teams from North, South, East and West. Trinity seems like a good central location for a good mix. We were parked next to some home folks from Trinity on one side and Russell & Cecilia Coleman on the other side. Ronnie & Helen Halbison were on hand along with David Slusher & Laverne. We also saw Walter Cochran and lot's of teams from our area.

Fire works were on the schedule for later Saturday night but we were tired and went home about 6:30PM.

Hats off to Lynn Shivers and Jeff Shivers for doing a jam up job on the judging. They always make it simple and fun. Thanks Guys!

We hope you can make the next cook, we always look for support from our friends!
