Harris County Fair BBQ Cook-Off

Houston, TX

October 10th & 11th

Harris County Fair or Traders Village Grande Prairie Texas was the choice to be made for this weekend's BBQ Competition. It was not an easy choice however with only 5 miles to travel to the Houston Farm & Ranch Club and Sandy Babcock promised no rain so we decided on The Harris County Fair. And Sandy was right on!

This was the first competition to use Big Red and what a dream come true. It took only 5 minutes to set up and when it was all over only 5 minutes to break down . The pit worked absolutely wonderful! We burned the chicken, under cooked the brisket, and made the final table in ribs. No fault of the pit, it just takes a little getting use to.

We had a chance to visit with Russell & Cecilia Coleman, (Russell got a new pit!) Really nice too! Also saw Ronnie & Helen Halbison, David Slusher and Loraine, Walter & Peggy, Richard Wallace, my ole team mates with Mis-B-Havin, and met some new cookers to boot. Vince didn't make the cook, he had other commitments this time.

We are looking at our list of cook-offs and will decide on a couple of more prior to "Christmas On The Square" and will let you know what we come up with.
